A Good Week for Lambert Golf, Tennis Teams

Here are results through March 29 for area high schools.

Tennis

After winning the Granger Tournament in LaGrange, Lambert defeated Forsyth Central 5-0. Alexa Pena, Sam Schilling and Lincoln Metz won their respective matches to earn the win. The Longhorns also defeated West Forsyth 5-0 last week. … In girls tennis, Lambert defeated Forsyth Central 5-0. Karlee Bryde, Kealee Heffner and Sydney Topper all grabbed wins to lead the Lady Horns over South Forsyth. Lambert also defeated West Forsyth 3-2 on Thursday. Ashley Barron won her match along with the doubles teams of Taylor Lefton/Kate Trinkle and MacKenzie Bodin/Lauren Ewes. … West Forsyth defeated Milton 3-2. Jenna Brunner was able to win her match, which was the deciding factor for the Lady Wolves. West Forsyth took on Centennial last Thursday and came away with a 4-1 win. Brunner along with Madi Umbaugh won their singles matches. The Lady Wolves will take on Parkview on Tuesday.

The Lambert boys golf team had a strong showing at the Kell Golf Classic, winning first place with a score of 325. It’s their first tournament win of the year and the fourth time this season the Longhorns have finished in the top three in a tournament. They will take part in the Morgan County Golf Tournament on Saturday. … The Lambert girls had a good week of golf, as they won the Northwood Classic. Sloan Shanahan and So-Jeong Lee were the top golfers for the Lady Horns. It’s the second consecutive win for Lambert as they won the White County tournament which was back on March 12. Their next match will be against Lanier at the Sugar Hill Golf Club on Tuesday. The next tournament will be on April 16 when they take part in the Brookwood invitational. Shanahan and Lee are not expected to play because they will be taking part in their own junior tournaments. … The North Forsyth girls team lost to Forsyth Central 71-65 in a six-hole tournament last week. Trevor McConnell was the leading golfer for North Forsyth in the two-team match. The girls’ next tournament will be at Lumpkin on Tuesday.
