Body of Drowning Victim Recovered from Lake Lanier: 1 Year Ago in Cumming
28-year-old Jacob Thomas fell from a dock, struck his head, and drowned on the morning of Sept. 21, 2014.
The body of a 28-year-old man who drowned on Lake Lanier was recovered by Hall County authorities a year ago this week.
Jacob Thomas’ body was discovered in 48 feet of water off of Sunset Cove on Sept. 22, 2014. Thomas fell off a dock and struck his head on a boat on Sept. 21, 2014. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that alcohol was a factor on Thomas’ death.
Sonar equipment from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and divers from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office were used in the operation to recover Thomas’ body.
