  1. Melissa Banker has been named the new indigent defense director in Forsyth County. Banker has over 20 years of experience in the county's criminal justice system. Her new role will include the responsibility of providing attorneys to criminal defendants in the county. She states that her goal is to be a voice for the voiceless and ensure that defendants' needs are met. (Forsyth County News Online)
  2. Richard Toomey of Kelly Mill Elementary in Cumming is one of the top 10 finalists in the Cintas 2023 Custodian of the Year Contest. The winner of the contest will get a $10,000 cash award and the winner's school will receive cleaning products and a facilities assessment valued at $35,000.   3. The 2023 "Soaps in the South" event will take place on Jun. 24 and 25 in Alpharetta and Cumming. This event benefits the Camp Dream charity which provides a summer camp experience for children and young adults with physical and developmental disabilities. Attendees of the event will have the chance to have personal interactions with actors from well-known soap operas including "Days of Our Lives" and "General Hospital." (True Hollywood Talk)
