  1. Paul Byrd, program director of Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center’s Mercer University School of Medicine, in Cumming, was named to the CBF Counsel on Endorsement. The appointment was made at the recent General Assembly of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF). (Baptist News Global)
  2. Ariana Cohen, a Junior in Biological Sciences, from Cumming, was chosen to be a 2022-2023 Ratcliffe Scholar at the University of Georgia in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The scholarship awards $5,000. She was involved in an exchange program with the Universidad PĂşblica de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, over the course of the spring semester. (Morgan County Citizen)
  3. Payton Martin, from West Forsyth High School in Cumming, is 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA. He has 40 strikeouts in 32-and-two thirds innings for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. He was drafted in the 17th round last year by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is right-handed and just 19 years old.(FanGraphs)
  4. If you want to see a spectacular display of pyrotechnics right here in Cumming, look no further. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. at the Cumming Fairground — just after the arrival of the July 4th Annual Thomas-Mashburn Steam Engine Parade. The parade starts at Forsyth Central High School at 10:00 a.m. and wends its way along South Tribble Gap Road. Admission and parking are free. (Cumming Fair)

  • If you are out and about driving today, Jul 4, keep your eyes open for competitors in he Run, White, and Blue 5k/9K race! Runners will be out in and around the Halcyon area. The race will be start at 7:45 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. But, be aware of stragglers, too. (Forsyth County SO via Instagram)
