College Day Career Expo Set for Oct. 16 in Cumming
Lanier Tech wants to encourage students opting out of the PSAT test to seek post-secondary education.

Lanier Technical College is set to hold this month a special event for high school students in Cumming.Â
Set for Oct. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Forsyth Conference Center—at 3410 Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Cumming—the College Day Career Expo is to introduce high school students to the career opportunities that are available to them through secondary education. Organizers expect about 200 high school students to attend from area high schools.Â
Lanier Technical College's programs will be on exhibit in the conference center with interactive displays for students to engage in along with business and community organizers with corresponding careers.Â
The students attending are those opting out of the PSAT test and might otherwise not be considering college. Lanier Tech wants to encourage those students to seek post-secondary education by allowing them to speak with local business leaders, as well as faculty and students of Lanier Technical College, and a number of other local colleges and universities. Â
North Georgia College, DeVry University, Reinhardt College, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, Forsyth County Fire Department, the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army reps are set to be there.
