Here are the top five stories today in Cumming:

  1. White Oaks at Lanier has been sued for allegedly failing to pay back millions. The senior living community, now known as Country Gardens Lanier, has allegedly failed to repay $29.5 million borrowed from Millenium Bank in Georgia back in 2016. The balance became due Sept. 30 “after multiple extensions and two forbearance agreements.” (McKnight's Senior Living)
  2. The first restaurant at the Cumming City Center has opened its doors. After years of dreaming and planning, a Forsyth County couple has seen their dreams come to life with the Apr. 19 opening of Tin Cup Grill. The new restaurant is the first in the City Center to open, with more set to follow in the next few months. (Cumming City Center via Facebook)
  3. Cumming's NoFo Brew Co reached a deal to acquire land and open its third location. First started in September 2019, NoFo Brew Co will celebrate its fourth anniversary at the Cumming location this fall. The owners have plans to open in Cleveland in early summer 2023 and its Gainesville location later this summer. (Brewbound.com)
  4. The Forsyth County Environmental Health Department has issued several glowing inspections of local restaurants. Among the eateries that earned a perfect 100 percent score were Good Ol’ Days, That Biscuit Place, Ted's Montana Grill in Cumming, Five Guys in Suwanee, and Mochigo in Alpharetta.   5. One Forsyth County man spends his days picking up roadside trash to keep our Earth beautiful. For Phillip Ericson, every day is Earth Day.   • The new GA 400 Exit 18 ramps opened a day ahead of schedule! When driving near north Forsyth, stay alert for a change in traffic patterns. The county will release more information about these changes soon. (Forsyth County News via Instagram)
  • The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Summer Activities' League will be held Jun. 12-15 at New Hope Elementary School. This free summer sports activities camp is for kids in third to fifth grade focusing on basketball, flag football, lacrosse, and soccer.   • The Humane Society of Forsyth County spotlighted its Dog of the Day: Snowflake! The cute pug/beagle mix is 5 years old and weighs 27 pounds.
