  1. A man was shot and another man was arrested after a road rage incident on GA-400 southbound in Cumming, according to Forsyth County authorities. The altercation occurred when one driver honked at another driver, identified as Joshua Kasparek, who was driving slowly in the fast lane. Kasparek allegedly followed the man, shooting at his truck and causing damage and an arm injury. The suspect faces charges of aggravated assault and reckless conduct. (Patch)
  2. Forsyth County is set to receive a cutting-edge research and testing facility, serving as a pivotal point for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. New York-based ABM Industries has unveiled plans to construct a 114,000-square-foot warehouse in Cumming, named the ABM Electrification Center, where the company will conduct EV training and testing operations. Construction is scheduled to commence in July, with the hub projected to open its doors by year-end, aligning with the state and federal government's push for widespread EV adoption.   3. Cumming Elementary School recently partnered with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the City of Cumming Police Department, and Keller Williams Realty to give car seats to local students.   4. The Sawnee-Cumming Optimist Club recently honored three outstanding high school students in Forsyth County for their remarkable academic accomplishments. As part of the Optimist Star Student Program, these students were recognized for showcasing academic excellence, exemplary citizenship, and exceptional leadership skills. Elisabeth Kearney, a senior from West Forsyth High School, was announced as the 2023 Optimist Star Student, while Alina Abraham, a senior from Alliance Academy for Innovation, received recognition as the runner-up. Akshaya Tallapally, a sophomore from Denmark High School, emerged as the winner of the club's annual essay contest. (Appen Media)
  5. Two teenagers are facing charges after reaching speeds of up to 140 miles per hour while attempting to evade Forsyth County deputies. Last week, a Forsyth County Sheriff's deputy observed a white BMW zooming past him on Canton Highway, clocking in at 87 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone. Dash camera footage captured the deputy initiating a high-speed pursuit as the car continued to accelerate. The driver, recorded on body camera video, pleaded with the deputy to call his mother β€” prompting the deputy to call the driver a "silly goose" for breaking the law in Forsyth County. (WSB-TV)
