Cumming Gas Gauge: Oil Prices Drop 'Like a Rock' Just In Time for Spring
Gas prices are at their lowest level this time of year since 2009, the AAA says.

Gas prices fell a bit more last week, and falling oil prices could bring even more relief, the AAA said in its weekly fuel price briefing.

“The price of oil dropped like a rock last week, which could signal lower prices at the pump in the coming weeks,” the briefing said.

The average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Georgia was $2.27 Sunday, two cents lower than the previous week. That’s 10 cents more per gallon than a month ago, but more than a dollar less than a year ago.
Nationally, the AAA said prices fell for the eighth straight day and was $2.43 on Sunday. That’s $1.27 less than the peak price last year, saving motorists more than $19 for a full tank of gas.
“The price of oil has not seen dramatic increases in the past couple of weeks and motorists are reaping the benefits,” AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in the briefing. “Gas prices are at their lowest level this time of year since 2009, which will entice people to take a road trip this spring.”
The lowest price reported Monday in Cumming on AtlantaGasPrice.com was $2.17.
