Cumming Man Charged With Theft of Nearly $2M

Authorities say the former chief financial officer of a Roswell-based company allegedly made over 290 fraudulent transactions since 2010.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Cumming man who allegedly stole more than $1.95 million from a Roswell-based company where he worked.

Steven E. Daniel, 50, was the chief financial officer at Nanoventions when the thefts happened, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. A six-month investigation began when the company allegedly discovered Daniel had forged company checks, resulting in the theft of more than $160,000 from the company and its shareholders.

Investigators say that since 2010 Daniel had reportedly made more than 290 fraudulent transactions, resulting in the theft of more than $1.95 million.

Daniel was arrested on Feb. 14 and has been charged with three counts each of felony theft and felony forgery, as well as two counts of financial identity fraud. He is being held at the Forsyth County Jail on a $2.2 million bond.
