- Heart and Vascular Care in Cumming was recognized with a MAP (Medical Assistance Provider) award from the Healthcare Financial Management Association. The awards were presented on Jun. 25, at the annual conference. The awards recognize those who excel in meeting industry revenue cycle standards and implementing best practices. - Cooper & Company General Contractors, Inc. was among the winners of the Build Georgia Awards for excellence in contracting, given by the Associated General Contractors of Georgia (AGC Georgia) on Jun. 26. Cooper & Company received the award partly for their work on the Cumming City Center. Mike Dunham, CEO of AGC Georgia, says these member companies are among the best the industry has to offer, as they share a commitment to construction excellence. (EIN News)
- One of the latest social networking groups is the "Alpharetta, Milton, and Cumming, Connect Moms." The group, which can be found on Facebook, says it is designed to help moms meet their neighbors and the community in the most positive way. (Rough Draft Atlanta)
- Severe storms traveled across Georgia Sunday night, cutting power for nearly 300,000 residents across the state. As of yesterday morning, nearly 86,000 were still without power. Travelers at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport also faced significant delays and multiple cancelations amid the storms. (Fox5Atlanta)
- Police were called to the Family Tree Animal Clinic in nearby Milton. The issue was the illegal dumping of miscellaneous records in the clinic's dumpster. The name of a former client and the possible dumper was found in the records, and the clinic says it will press charges when and if the identity of the dumper is confirmed. (Appen Media)
