Cumming Student Earns Perfect AP, ACT Score
A Pinecrest Academy senior is the first to receive full points on the college admissions exam.
Andy Rodriguez, a senior at Pinecrest Academy, took the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam and the ACT college admission exam in his junior year, not knowing that he would make history at the school.
Rodriguez was one of 91 students in the world to earn full points on the AP exam. The test is based on a 5-point scale with 5 being the equivalent to an “A” in the corresponding college course.
But not only did Rodriguez receive an impeccable score on the AP test, he was also the first student at Pinecrest Academy to receive a perfect score on the ACT. Out of 1.8 million students who took the college admission exam in 2013, only 1,162 walked away with a perfect score.

“Pinecrest Academy is extremely proud of Andy’s many accomplishments,” said Ed Lindekugel, Pinecrest Academy High School Principal. “He has grown into a young man of faith, dedicated to maximizing his God-given gifts, including his intellect. Perhaps the most admirable part of Andy’s success is the perspective and humility he has maintained. He is a beautiful example for all of us.”
Rodriguez has received an early acceptance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Georgia Institute of Technology. He plans to study engineering in college.
