Election Day 2018: Forsyth County General Election Results
Forsyth County voters headed to the polls Tuesday to cast ballots in the Nov. 6 general election.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA β Forsyth voters decided Tuesday they want Sunday sales of alcoholic beverages by the drink beginning at 11 a.m., rather than 12:30 p.m., and also want to continue a one cent SPLOST.
All of the fireworks in the Forsyth County election came when incumbent Republican Rob Woodall took on Democrat Carolyn Bourdeaux, in Georgiaβs 7th Congressional District, which contains parts of Forsyth and Gwinnett counties.
Woodall earned 135,700 votes, or 50.59 percent, while Bourdeaux earned 132,516 votes, or 49.41percent.

The first issue listed on Woodall's website is the budget.
"Reining in out-of-control federal spending and paying down our national debt has been, and will continue to be, one of my top priorities as your voice in Washington, D.C. As a member of the House Budget Committee, Iβve played an active role in crafting the seven budget resolutions put forth by the House Republicans since we took control of the House in 2011, and looking back now, Iβm proud of what weβve accomplished in those few years. Federal discretionary spending fell each year from 2011 to 2015, and federal deficits are 60% lower today than they were in 2009, which was President Obamaβs first year in office. And none of that is funny Washington, DC math, those are real dollars!"

Georgiaβs 9th Congressional District seat was also up for grabs, with incumbent Republican Doug Collins facing off with Democratic challenger Josh McCall. Collins earned 224,331 votes, or 79.58 percent, apparently defeating McCall, who had 57,556 votes, or 20.42 percent.
The first issue listed on Collins' website is his pro-life position.
"Throughout my time as an elected official in both the Georgia legislature and in Congress, I have worked tirelessly to fight for and protect the lives of the unborn. In addition to my 100% scores with National Right to Life and Family Research Council Action, I am proud to have cosponsored legislation that: Prohibits abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy since scientific evidence suggests that unborn children can feel intense pain after this length of time (H.R. 36)."
Much of the excitement of the Forsyth County races was over in May when Republican Molly Cooper earned the District 1 and incumbent Republican Todd Levent earned the District 3 County Commission seats with no Democrat opposition for the Nov. 6 election.
Wes McCall beat out his opponent in the primary and will be the District 1 Board of Education Representative, having had no Democrat challenger. And Kristin Morrissey will sit on the District 2 Board of Education seat.
Incumbent Republican Bill Finch ran unopposed for County Solicitor General. Incumbent Republican Leonard Ridings also ran unopposed for Upper Chattahoochee River Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor.
