Family Dog Hanged: $5K Reward for Info in Animal's Death
A hiker found the dog hanging from a tree branch over the weekend, sheriff's deputies said. Investigators believe it was an intentional act.

A pair of organizations have joined forces to offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people who hanged a family dog from a tree branch in Forsyth County over the weekend.
The Atlanta Humane Society and Norred & Associates announced the reward on Wednesday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Two hikers on a trail in Bethel Park in Gainesville discovered the body of the female boxer mix attached to a fallen tree by a rope at approximately 11:30 a.m. Saturday, sheriffβs office spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez told Patch.
βThe evidence on scene shows that it was an intentional act,β Rodriguez added.

The dog disappeared from her home near the park on Friday, her owners told Forsyth County News. A sheriffβs deputy asked them to come in on Saturday and identify the remains of what turned out to be their dog.
Investigators are working the case and are awaiting the results of the dogβs necropsy to determine how she died, Rodriguez said.
