Here are the top five stories today in Cumming:
- The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office addressed the reports that have been made about bears being near and around Majors Road and Post Road. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has encouraged individuals to look over the six BearWise Basics for both outdoor and at-home situations. The bear experts and biologists that are in charge of the BearWise come from all of the 15 states of the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, and their mission is to protect and educate on bear and other animal safety. - FoCo Works Career Fair is being hosted by the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce and Forsyth County Schools, today, Jun. 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There are 40 local employers that will be attending this fair, which is located at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College. Local graduates will get the opportunity to discover possible career outcomes for their future. (Forsyth County News Online)
- Looking to fill up your social calendar this weekend? Lots of fun events are happening in and around Forsyth County. The Dunwoody Farmers Market is taking place at 9:00 a.m. on Jun. 3, in front of Brook Run Park, with vendors and fresh food. In nearby Sandy Springs, Painting with a Twist will be hosting a Self Care Sunday — Spill The Tea event, taking place on Sunday, Jun. 4, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Rosewell Rd. - Forsyth County Parks and Recreation has a current park project going on in Lanierland Park, which is located at 6115 Jot-Em-Down Road in Cumming. The project is called simply: Phase 2, and its scope is all about the construction design and developmental aspect. - Down the street and off of Lake Center Parkway, in Westlake Terrace Plaza, is the home of Kapow Comics. Store owner, Andy Diehl, has a mission to create a community of comic book, figurine, and game lovers. Diehl makes it accessible to participate in games such as Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering Commander, with the price of a $5 gift card purchase for adults or a $5 dollar price entry for younger players of 13 and over.
