Here are the top five stories today in Cumming:
- The Cumming Police Department is seeking help identifying an individual suspected of flashing patrons at a Waffle House last month. The incident occurred around 1:58 a.m. on May 15 at the restaurant on 599 Atlanta Road, where authorities say a white male exposed himself to victims. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call (770) 781-2000. (Forsyth County News Online)
- A local construction company has been awarded a contract to build a new bridge over Hazel Creek in nearby Demorest. Vertical Earth, the Cumming-based contractor, will build a .284-mile bridge under the $6.8 million contract. Construction is expected to be completed by April 2026. (Now Habersham)
- A Cumming-based veteran's group recently visited veterans at the Celebration Village Forsyth senior living facility. During the visit, the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America shared stories about their military experiences in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The group also presented each veteran at the home with a cap embroidered with the name of the branch in which they served. (Appen Media)
- The Cumming Beer Festival is right around the corner. The first annual event will take place at Cumming City Center on Jun. 17 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The event will feature live music at the amphitheater. General admission is $30 per person and begins at 1:00 p.m. (Ticket Leap)
