Here are the top five stories today in Cumming:
- "I'll take Forsyth County native for $500." Suresh Krishnan of Forsyth County recently achieved his fifth consecutive "Jeopardy" win, shown when the episode aired on the night of Monday, Jun. 12. Krishnan's winning grand total is now $82,194. (Subscription: Forsyth County News)
- Gov. Brian Kemp recently awarded over $800,000 in grants to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Critical Incident Response Team. The local grants were awarded as part of more than $83.5 million in grants for 118 projects in Georgia going towards improving public safety and tackling staffing challenges in law enforcement. In Forsyth County, the grants will help form additional teams aimed at reducing the number of mental illness cases the detention center sees. (NewsBreak)

There are plenty of free summer activities for kiddos in Forsyth County, like joining the Halcyon Kids Club, becoming a Junior Ranger, joining the Sawnee Mountain Hikers Club, or having a night out under the stars at The North Georgia Astronomical Observatory on Fridays. - The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office recently released some of its May 2023 statistics in comparison to the previous year. According to the statistics, the number of speeding citations and warnings, DUI arrests, accidents, accidents due to DUI, and texting and driving warnings increased this year.
