Man Charged in Fatal Cement Truck Crash in Forsyth
The Gwinnett County man faces second-degree homicide by vehicle, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane and speeding charges.
A Gwinnett County man has been charged with vehicular homicideΒ in a GA 400Β crash last month that claimed the life of an elderly Gainesville woman,Β Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokesman Doug Rainwater said.
Gonzalo Antonio Jimenez, 42, of Sugar Hill, was arrested Monday and charged with second-degreeΒ homicide by vehicle, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane and speeding in connection with the death ofΒ Rose Marie Robertson, 82, of Bethel Road.
She died three days after the Sept. 10Β crash on GA 400 at BottomsΒ Road andΒ Settingdown CircleΒ in Forsyth County,Β north of Cumming, as a result of theΒ "critical, life-threatening injuries" she sustained in the collisionΒ with a cement truck, according to Forsyth County authorities.
Robertson wasΒ "heavily" entrapped in herΒ 2008 Toyota CorollaΒ and had to extricated from the small sedan, which came to rest in the median,Β Forsyth County Fire Department spokesman Jason Shivers told Patch. Firefighters worked 15 minutesΒ to free her and Robertson wasΒ airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital.
She diedΒ Sept. 13 aboutΒ 5 a.m.Β at Grady.
Jimenez, who was driving the concrete truck, was not hurt in the crash thatΒ closed northbound lanes for about an hour, causing traffic delays. Β Β

He is being heldΒ at the Forsyth County jail on a $4,015 bond, according to FCSO's booking report.
