Here are the top five stories today in Cumming:

  1. A blockage in a downstream manhole led to a major sewer spill in the Three Chimney's Farm subdivision of Cumming over the weekend. The spill, which officials estimate equaled around 4,100 gallons of sewage, was reported just before 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As of 9:00 p.m. that evening, crews had managed to contain the spill, which was later cleaned and removed. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. A Forsyth County teen was indicted this week for threatening to blow up a local synagogue. Cooper Hansen, 18, was first arrested and charged in April after making the threats on Twitter on Mar. 21. Investigations by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office determined the threat to be baseless.   3. Kids can build character while playing fun summer games during an innovative camp offered at Brookwood Elementary this summer. This weeklong camp runs Jul. 10-14, and each day will feature outdoor team challenges, indoor motor skills activities, and character development lessons. Click here to learn more and register.   4. A local man has been indicted in connection with a north Forsyth house fire. The fire occurred at suspect Nicholas Robert Murray's own home in January 2023. Murray was indicted on a total of ten charges in connection to the alleged arson. (Subscription: Forsyth County News)
