Meteorologist Ken Cook Volunteers at Emergency Operations Center

Forsyth County is under a winter storm warning until 10 a.m. Thursday.

Forsyth County’s Emergency Operations Center has announced its secret weapon to combat the coming winter storm.

County resident and meteorologist Ken Cook has decided to volunteer at the Emergency Operations Center, keeping people informed on weather updates, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook.

Cook retired from Fox-5 Atlanta last June after working there as a meteorologist for 35 years, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The center is active and staffed with members from the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, 911 Center, Emergency Management and other county personnel.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Forsyth County until 10 a.m. Thursday, bringing a possible 3 to 5 inches of snow. Snowfall could impact roadways and travel.
