- A free museum and memorial celebrating local firefighters will soon be open at Cumming City Center. The Fire Museum is a joint effort between Cumming Mayor Troy Brumbalow and Forsyth County Fire Chief Barry Head and will feature memorabilia documenting the history of fire services in the community, with a special focus on honoring local firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The Fire Museum will be located next to Myth and Legend Coffee House and will open in the next few weeks. (Subscription: Forsyth County News)
- The Forsyth County Library Board approved a newly adjusted budget for the Denmark Library as leaders get ready to begin construction on the project next week. The revised budget of $15 million accounts for rising construction costs but cuts some previously proposed outdoor amenities. The library groundbreaking is planned for Thursday, Jul. 27, marking the official start of construction. (Subscription: Forsyth County News)
- A raccoon captured in southeast Forsyth County tested positive for rabies on Sunday. A local resident saw what she believed was a possibly rabid animal and notified animal services, who responded promptly and captured it for testing. Individuals, and a dog, who came into contact with the animal were referred to a health care provider and subsequently treated for any exposure. To report a wild animal acting strangely, contact Forsyth County Environmental Health at (770) 781-6909. (Forsyth County Georgia Government via Facebook)

- Sharon Forks Library reopened yesterday after reports of suspicious activity. The Sharon Forks branch, the busiest in the state servicing the highest number of checkouts, was evacuated on Wednesday following reports of suspicious activity onsite. Everyone was safe due to the quick response of the library staff and Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department.
