A car accident in Forsyth County on Wednesday could have meant tragedy for a baby squirrel that was knocked out of its home when the car crashed into its tree, but luckily, this little fella was taken home by a Forsyth County deputy.

The Forsyth County deputy, who wished to keep his name anonymous, found the baby squirrel and its sibling at the site of the car crash, and decided to take the siblings home to nurse them back to health, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

Commenters on Facebook applauded the kind act; several people have even dubbed the deputy the “squirrel whisperer.”

Many more comments thanked the man for his kindness to animals.

“Thank you for helping the little animals you come across in the line of duty! It’d be nice if there were more people like you,” Terry Boguslawski said on the Facebook post.

It looks like these two lucky siblings are in good hands, too.

This kind-hearted deputy has not only taken these two little squirrels home, but has successfully nursed other baby squirrels back to health in the past in cases where the mother squirrel wouldn’t take them back, according to the Facebook post.
