Police: Man Pointed Shotgun at Neighbors, Deputies

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office called in the SWAT team and arrested the man after an armed standoff.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office say they have arrested a man who allegedly walked around his front yard pointing a shotgun at people, including the deputies when they arrived.

Officials were called to a home on Swiss Air Road in the area of Bethel Park near Lake Lanier around 2 p.m. Thursday after someone dialed 911 and reported the man, according to Forsyth County News.

“Once the initial deputies arrived, [the man] had at one point pointed the shotgun at the deputies,” Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Doug Rainwater told WSB TV.

Rainwater says the deputies pulled back slightly and called in the SWAT team and negotiating team.

“What we believe at that time was happening was he wanted us to engage him with our guns because he was holding a shotgun,” Rainwater said.
