Sheriff's Office Names Deputies of the Year

Deputy Sheriff William McConnell and Cpl. Tyler Sexton were nominated for the honors.

recognized Deputy Sheriff William McConnell of the and Cpl. Tyler Sexton of the as it's 2011 Deputies of the Year of the Uniform Patrol Division recently.

During the presentation, McConnell and Sexton were honored for their work with the sheriff's office for being great examples and representing the best of the best at the FCSO said Sheriff Ted Paxton.

"We are proud that they are part of our team," he said. "Their exemplary work is just an example of what all of you do each and every day. I appreciate all of you and what you do for the citizens of this county."

McConnell, who was Deputy of the Month and , was selected particularly for the work he did in gathering information that led to arrests in a number of burglaries and auto break-ins in the north end of the county.

Sexton, who was Deputy of the Month  and , was praised for the information he collected that ultimately led to the arrest of 15 people in the  and the connection of this burglary ring to burglaries in at least six other states. The jewelry store burglary was the largest in the metro-Atlanta area recorded in recent years.

Deputy Sheriff McConnell has been with the FCSO since October 2010 and Cpl. Sexton has been employed there since January 2008.

The presentation was held at the South Precinct on Thursday, March 15.
