  1. Authorities have identified the man who was fatally shot on Ivy Street as 23-year-old Cumming resident Hamilton Samuel Darwin. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has charged 20-year-old Ja'Mychael Quintrez Peavy of Hampton with felony murder in connection to Darwin's death. The incident took place during a fight between the two men, both of whom were temporary employees at a warehouse-type business. They both suffered gunshot wounds and Peavy is currently hospitalized for his injuries. (Patch)
  2. Because Coffee is expanding with a second location in Forsyth County's new Cumming City Center. The new shop, named Myth & Legend, aims to offer a distinct experience focused on craft beverages, featuring a wide array of espresso-based drinks, mocktails, nitro brews, and culinary-inspired creations. The shop will also showcase a rotation of manual brews, allowing customers to learn about different coffee brewing methods through informative displays and QR codes. (Dawson News)
  3. A 19-year-old suspect was arrested after a high-speed chase in Forsyth County, reaching speeds of nearly 140 miles per hour. The pursuit began when a deputy observed a white BMW traveling at 87 mph in a 45 mph zone. The deputy initiated the chase, and after reaching high speeds, was able to safely apprehend the suspect.   4. A Forsyth County elementary school had an unexpected visitor earlier this week. Staff at Poole's Smith Mill Elementary School noticed a black bear wandering around the playground and ensured students were safely brought inside. This isn't the first bear sighting and with a densely wooded area behind the school, it's likely to not be the last. (WSBTV)
  5. Forsyth County has been named the healthiest county in Georgia! The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute in Madison have published rankings of the healthiest and unhealthiest counties in each state. The rankings were based on county-level data collected from 2014 to 2022, assessing health outcomes and over 90 health factors at the county level. (Beckers)

Once the program is completed, these dogs are then ready for adoption within the community. If you're thinking about getting a dog, it's worth exploring the recent graduates of this program.
