Southeast Forsyth Residential Design Standards Open House Slated

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — Forsyth County is holding an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Forsyth County Administration Building, Suite 220, for residents to see and comment on the progress of proposed residential design standards for the southeast portion of the county.

The approximate boundaries for the proposed design standards include the following character areas from the Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan:

- Big Creek
- Haw Creek and Daves Creek
- McFarland (east of GA 400)
- South Georgia 400 (east of GA 400)

Design standards under consideration include exterior materials, windows, building orientation to street, building disposition on lot, parking configuration, site design, connectivity and walkability, landscaping, common areas, lighting, subdivision signage and accessory structures.

“The Board of Commissioners has identified the southeast portion of the county as needing additional design standards to help maintain high quality residential development,” said Deputy Director of Planning and Community Development Vanessa Bernstein-Goldman. “We are looking forward to meeting with stakeholders to get their feedback.”

The board also identified the need for placemaking options for the southeast Forsyth County area.
Strategies are currently being considered as part of this project initiative to help inspire residents,
developers, and other interested parties in an effort to enhance a sense of shared identity through a variety of grass-roots approaches.

County staff and project design consultants will be available during the open house to answer questions and provide feedback to attendees.
