Tencarva Ranks 41st On 'Industrial Distribution' 2013 ‘Big 50’ List

Tencarva Machinery Company, which has an office in Cumming, ranked 41st in the 2013 “Big 50” list of the largest industrial distributors in the United States, based on annual revenue in 2012, as announced in a video reveal released on the Industrial Distribution magazine's website on Aug. 30, and in an article in the September-October 2013 issue of the national publication, according to a press release.

In an interview online with Tencarva President Rod Lee, Abbigail Kriebs, associate editor, points out, "Modest economic recovery in some of its major markets helped the company increase sales over 2011. Tencarva acquired Southern Sales in Nashville, Tennessee, in late 2012, and the company says the acquisition allowed them to expand market coverage over three states and add valuable market expertise to their management team." 

Lee responds, "You asked what makes Tencarva successful? The answer to that is always the same. Our people. We've just been fortunate enough to get and keep high quality people."

At year end of 2012, Tencarva had $197 million in sales and 339 employees in 25 locations. For eight straight years, Tencarva has appeared in the “Big 50” listing. Tencarva has appeared in the “Big 50” listing. Tencarva was the only company in the Triad area of Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point, to be included in the listing and one of two in North Carolina.

According to Industrial Distribution, all the Big 50 companies were “ranked according to total worldwide sales, and all figures are reported in USD.” The magazine’s information for publicly-traded companies is based on annual reports, earnings statements and company verifications. For privately-held companies, they use self-reported data coupled with follow-up interviews.

Tencarva was listed as 34th in the 2013 “Fast 50” companies selected by The Business Journal Serving the Greater Triad Area. Tencarva also ranked 44th in the “Grant Thornton North Carolina 100” privately-owned companies as published in Business North Carolina this month and 35th in the "North Carolina Mid-Market Fast 40" 2012 ranking by the publication.
