  1. TwelveStone Health Partners has opened its eleventh location outside the Atlanta area right here in Cumming. TwelveStone is partnering with Kimberly Scheffel and her team to provide exceptional care to residents in the area and give that chronic care medication service. The company was founded in 2016 in the Tennessee area, gradually expanding through the southeast to provide healthcare throughout the region. (EIN News)
  2. Jim Otwell was awarded a key to the city of Cumming on Tuesday by Mayor Troy Brumbalow and members of the city council. Otwell has spent the majority of his life in Cumming, from birth to graduating from Forsyth County High School, to eventually taking over the family business as president of Andean Motor Company and becoming one of the youngest dealers in the country at the time. He remains very active in the community outside of work, serving on the Board of Directors, as President of the South Forsyth Rotary Club, and even coaching a bit on the side. The key to the city is awarded to longtime citizens of Cumming and Jim is a prime example of Cumming at its best. (Original News Break)
  3. In Tuesday's meeting, the Cumming City Council approved the sale of a little over five acres of land to Creative Enterprises. Creative Enterprises, a local nonprofit, will be purchasing the 5.232 acres of land as well as their building on Pilgrim Mill Road for $719,305.82. The nonprofit primarily provides employment, social, and life skills training for those with developmental disabilities. The vote to sell the land to the organization passed with the board unanimously. (Original News Break)
  4. Next Tuesday, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office will be holding a free self-defense class for women residents in Forsyth County. This is a class designed to keep women safe and able to defend themself in crucial situations. The class will be held at Central Park Recreation Center at 6:30 p.m. (Forsyth County Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
  5. A junior at Denmark High School in nearby Alpharetta will be getting the opportunity to perform at a national level after securing a win at the 2023 Shuler Awards. A member of the Forsyth County Theater, Emily Marx was honored with the best performance as the leading actress at the 15th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards this past April. Emily will now have the opportunity to perform in New York this coming June and be seen on the national stage; you can see parts of her award-winning performance in the videos provided in the link.
