Woman Charged with DUI after Driving off Bridge: Police

A Cumming woman reportedly was under the influence when she drove off a bridge and into Lake Lanier Friday.

A Cumming woman has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs after her car plunged off a bridge on Georgia State Route 400 and into Lake Lanier.

Samantha Silverman, 33, of Cumming reportedly drove off the northbound lane of the roadway between exits 15 and 16, Bald Ridge and Pilgrim Mill Roads, of the highway, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

The car was in the water after Friday’s accident, but did not sink or submerge.

Silverman also faces charges for driving with a suspended license, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane, according to police. She also had a warrant for possession of methamphetamine.

The investigation continues into the incident. Silverman was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
