Art Show to Feature Works Created in Gwinnett Parks
The free opening reception will be held Saturday, Sept. 14.
Since March, local artists have met once monthly to paint in Gwinnett County parks.
The "plein air" artwork goes on display this month at the Tannery Row Artist Colony in Buford. The show kicks off Saturday, Sept. 14 with an opening reception from 3-7 p.m. The free opening day festivities will include an award ceremony, live music and refreshments.
One of the featured artists, Judith Suroweic, visited the Hamilton Mill Library on Sept. 8 and held a live painting demonstration to help publicize the plein air exhibition (see video). Suroweic said artists visited Little Mulberry Park, McDaniel Farm, the Historic Gwinnett Courthouse in Lawrenceville and other locations as part of the Gwinnett Parks Plein Air Challenge.
The winning artwork will be used in various promotional pieces and recognized in the next issue of Gwinnett LIFE. Award winning art pieces from the challenge will be on display at different Gwinnett County offices until March 2014.
The Gwinnett Parks Plein Air Challenge art show runs through Oct. 13 at the Tannery Row Artist Colony located at 554 W. Main Street, Building C in Buford.
