DACULA, GA β€” Students and staff at Dacula High School are starting their school year coping with the loss of a senior who died Wednesday after a car accident in Lawrenceville.

β€œDealing with death is hard, and it can be very challenging for teens,” Principal Bryan Long wrote in an email sent Thursday to parents. The email outlined how the school would help its students cope but did not identify the deceased student by name.

However, The Gwinnett Daily Post identified the student as Sam Akurang, 17, who died Wednesday of injuries sustained in a crash the previous day at the intersection of Simonton Road and Kirtley Way.
