Here are the top three stories today in and around Dacula:
- Gwinnett County recorded 530 new COVID-19 cases last week. The Georgia Department of Public Health reports that the county has produced more than 10 percent of tests as positive in the past 14 days. Last week, the county recorded eight additional deaths attributed to COVID-19. (MonroeLocal)
- The Gwinnett County Police Department is actively searching for an individual accused of raping a 15-year-old girl. According to the department, 30-year-old Akeem Alleyne allegedly raped the teen on Tuesday evening in her home. He is now wanted for kidnapping, rape, aggravated child molestation, and aggravated child molestation by sodomy. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the department. - On Monday, Gwinnett County Commissioner Jasper Watkins will be hosting a town hall meeting at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center auditorium. The 6:00 p.m. meeting will be used to discuss services and programs available to the county's veterans and their families. Representatives from Gwinnett Community Services, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90, the American Legion Post 232, and various health care professionals will be in attendance. (Gwinnett County)
