Here are the top three stories in Dacula today:

  1. The Emmanuel College Agriculture Department has received a donation of an 80-horsepower, four-wheel drive tractor from Deutz-Fahr Corporation located in Dacula and Shoemakers Equipment in Athens. The tractor will be used to teach students about equipment safety, tractor operation, and equipment use. The tractor will also support the school's 40-acre farm operation, which includes beef, fruit, vegetable, and forage production. Additionally, the tractor will be used in community agriculture classes held by the Emmanuel College Agriculture Department. (Morning Ag Clips)
  2. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating an incident where a small plane had to make an emergency landing on Interstate 985 in the Buford and Sugar Hill area, hitting a semi-truck in the process. Two people were on the plane at the time of the incident, but neither of them were injured. The incident caused a shutdown of I-985 for nearly two hours during rush hour as firefighters and law enforcement worked to secure the scene and remove the plane from the roadway. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the NTSB. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  3. The 30th Annual Dacula Memorial Day parade is accepting parade entry applications, with the theme "Resting as Heroes" to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. The parade will step off promptly at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 29th, from Hebron Baptist Church and will have a MAXIMUM of 90 entries, accepted on a first come first serve basis. The deadline for entries is midnight, Friday, May 12, 2023, and the parade is one of the largest in the nation, with more than 10,000 people lining the streets to watch. (Patch)
