Fatal Dacula Shooting Ruled Self-Defense, Resulted From Dispute

The accused shooter knew the man who died in the Tuesday night shooting at Stanley Road, police said.

DACULA, GA β€” The fatal shooting of a Lawrenceville man this week was done in self-defense and was the result of an altercation, Gwinnett County Police said Thursday.

Police said in the past Steven Thomaston, 35, died in the Stanley Road shooting that took place around 10 p.m. Tuesday. He was found dead at the scene.

Thomaston knew the unidentified accused shooter and engaged in a dispute with the person, police said Thursday. It was not released how the two people knew one another.

No charges are being filed in the case at the time, police said.
