Here are the top three stories today in Dacula:
- Dacula's Joy and Zoe Dennis represented Georgia at this year's AAU Junior Olympics in Greensboro, North Carolina. The two track and field athletes are sisters. Joy competed in the 400-meter race and Zoe competed in the long jump. The sisters are now ranked nationally and within Georgia. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
- According to Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson, the county is on pace to surpass the number of fentanyl-related deaths recorded in 2021. Currently, the county has had 97 fentanyl-related deaths in 2022. In 2021, the county had 196. The county District Attorney and the county's law enforcement agencies are unsure how to stop the numbers from rising. The District Attorney's Office has been prosecuting dealers that sell drugs resulting in overdoses. (Gwinnett Daily Post)
- Gwinnett County Commissioner Ben Ku will be hosting a town hall on Thursday. The purpose of the town hall is to discuss changes to the county's solid waste contracts. Residents will be able to ask questions at the end of the town hall. It will be held at Lucky Shoals Park's community room from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Gwinnett County)
