Here are the top three stories in and around Dacula today:

  1. Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) has a higher percentage of Asian and Latino teachers than the state of Georgia, but the percentage of people from those communities who serve as principals lags behind the student demographics. This was revealed in a presentation by Alma Advisory Group CEO Monica Rosen during a work session with the Gwinnett school board. The presentation also included information on the diversity of staff and employee retention, ultimately the goal of GCPS is to match its workforce to its student demographics as closely as possible. (Gwinnett Daily Post)
  2. The Gwinnett County Public Library is partnering with the Atlanta Community Food Bank for a Drive-Through Food Pantry event tomorrow, Jan. 24, at the Dacula Branch library. Distribution will begin at 10:00 a.m. and last until supplies are gone. Additional upcoming events will be held at the Buford, Five Forks, Snellville, Lawrenceville and Norcross Branches. (Gwinnett County Public Library via Instagram)
  3. Karl Bostick, a respected coach and administrator at Parkview High School, is set to be inducted into two more halls of fame this year. The Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame inductee, who retired in 2008, will be honored by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association in March and the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association in June. During his tenure at Parkview, Bostick led the school to an impressive 44 state championships and was recognized as the state's top athletic program in 2003 and 2005. (Gwinnett Prep Sports)
