Here are the top three stories in and around Dacula today:
- The Georgia Senate has passed a bill prohibiting transgender minors from accessing hormone replacement therapy and gender-affirming surgery. The legislation allows exceptions for puberty blockers and some medical conditions requiring hormone replacement therapy or surgery. The bill drew criticism from legislative Democrats, parents of transgender youth, and significant medical societies, while its supporters argued that it protects children from life-altering and irreversible procedures. - The Greg Satterthwaite Quartet, a jazz ensemble based in Dacula, has been selected as one of the 12 recipients of a grant from South Artsβ Jazz Road Tours program. The program helps jazz musicians cover expenses for local tours, including venue and travel fees, artist payments, and more. The quartet will play three shows in Georgia and Florida in June, and South Arts Director of Jazz Drew Tucker described the Winter 2023 Jazz Road artists as βpassionate, authentic and diverse.β (SaportaReport)
