Georgia Ranked Among Worst States To Have A Baby

This report compared hospital conventional-delivery charges and annual average infant-care costs, among many other data points.

Georgia has been ranked as the sixth worst state to have a baby to in the U.S. according to a new report from personal finance website WalletHub. The organization compared the 50 states and Washington, D.C, across 30 measures of cost, health care accessibility and baby-friendliness; this data included hospital conventional-delivery charges, annual average infant-care costs, and pediatricians per capita.

Georgia ranked behind Oklahoma and ahead of Arkansas. The worst states to have a child were Mississippi and Alabama. The best states were Vermont, Massachusetts, and North Dakota.

The report used data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, National Center for Children in Poverty, Child Care Aware of America, Kaiser Family Foundation, and the National Partnership for Women & Families, among other sources.
