Over a seven-year career with the Gwinnett County Police Department, K9 Zane racked up 42 patrol apprehensions and 52 evidence recoveries.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA – The Gwinnett County Police Department announced Tuesday that it was mourning the death of K9 Zane, one of its police dogs who died Friday from cancer.

Zane had been with the Gwinnett police since May 2014 and was first assigned to work with K9 Officer P. Tremblay. Cpl. A. Carlyle took over in 2019, when Tremblay was activated by the U.S. military. Zane had been on call until earlier this month.

According to a Gwinnett police statement, Zane had tallied 443 K9 deployments, 42 patrol apprehensions and 52 evidence recoveries over the course of his career.

“He was a huge asset to the county, and he loved to work,” said Gwinnett police spokesperson Hideshi Valle. “K9 Zane will be missed by everyone who was privileged enough to work with him during his career.”
