Gwinnett Clerk of Courts Warns Citizens of Jury Telephone Scam

Some citizens have received a fake telephone call or text message requesting payment of a fine for missing jury duty.

The Gwinnett County Clerk of Courts is warning citizens of a jury telephone scam.

Citizens receive a telephone call or text message notifying them of missed jury duty, advising them to immediately call a number, and directing them to pay a fine.

This is a false notice, according to the county.

Gwinnett Court staff and Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office staff only contact jurors by telephone and identify themselves during the contact.

An automatic telephone messaging system provides notices to jurors concerning status of cases and appearances.

If asked to call in, the telephone number provided will be 770-822-8567 or 770-822-8000.
