Gwinnett Restaurant Inspections: Checkers, Krystal, Pizza Hut

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Thinking of going out for a bite to eat? Then check out these inspection scores for restaurant and food-service operations conducted over the last week in Gwinnett County, including all of Suwanee.

Most facilities did well, with the majority scoring an A. However, one restaurant — The Tavern House in Buford — scored only a 55 and was rated "unacceptable."

Among its violations were two containers of cheese with a "mold like substance in food," as well as food items that were either undated are kept beyond their expiration date. All violations were corrected during the inspection. Restaurants with low or unacceptable scores are typically given a second inspection within a week or so. How They're Rated

Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from the best possible score of 100. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points.
