Here are the top three stories today in Dacula:

  1. A group of Gwinnett County cyclists is sharing a video of a hit-and-run in the hopes of identifying the driver. The hit-and-run occurred between Peachtree Industrial and Buford Highway in nearby Sugar Hill on Saturday, Jan. 28. The driver of a Silver Honda Accord plowed into a biker at a crosswalk and then sped away. Ben Milcarek, one of the cyclists sharing the video, said, "I’ve never seen someone so blatantly trying to hit somebody going down the road" and the driver "obviously knew he’d hit one of the guys." Gwinnett County police have a copy of the video and are now investigating. (WSB-TV)
  2. Nakita Hemingway, who lives in Dacula with her husband and four children, was interviewed by agriculture.com. Hemingway was the first African-American woman to run for the post of Georgia’s commissioner of agriculture and is an active member of the Democratic Party of Georgia. She said that if she had won the election on Nov. 8, she "would have made sure the office operated with integrity, transparency, and fairness for every grower in our state." (Agriculture.com)
  3. The UNA women’s soccer program recently added 13 signees for Spring and Fall 2023. Defender Gracie Tyrrell of Dacula from the Atlanta Fire ECNL is joining the roster in the Fall of 2023. (The News Courier)
