Man Facing More Than 30 Charges in Burglaries, Thefts: Police

A man has been arrested who is accused of robbing more than 12 Dacula businesses and is facing more than 30 charges.

DACULA, GA – A Winder man has been arrested and charged for his involvement in a series of burglaries and entering autos in Dacula.

Jason Scott Jones, 37, is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Jail facing more than 30 different charges.

This crime series began September 20 when two businesses on Franklin Drive in Dacula were broken into.

On Sept. 21, officers assigned to the East Precinct located Jones driving a moped at the Family Dollar at 2590 Winder Highway in Dacula. When the officers learned that his moped was stolen, he ran. Though he evaded capture, the officers identified him and secured two warrants for his arrest: theft by receiving stolen property and obstruction.

Since then, several more businesses were burglarized. At most of these burglary locations, vehicles parked on the property were also broken into. Jones targeted businesses and vehicles parked at businesses along Winder Highway near the railroad tracks.

Using surveillance images from several of burglary locations, the lead detective assigned to this series identified Jones as the suspect. Jones was eventually arrested by the officers assigned to the East Precinct CRT and the K9 Unit. He has been cooperative with the investigation thus far.

Jones was previously arrested on Jan. 12 for a burglary that occurred at a business on Winder Highway. He was released on bond Feb. 2.
