Overturned Fuel Tanker Shuts Down Busy Hamilton Mill Intersection
Crews worked to contain spilled fuel after a tanker overturned Tuesday at the intersection of Hamilton Mill Road and Braselton Highway.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — The intersection of Hamilton Mill Road and Braselton Highway reopened Tuesday around 3 p.m. after hazmat crews managed to contain fuel leaking from an overturned gasoline tanker.
The tanker overturned at the intersection at about 5:30 a.m. and began leaking fuel onto the roadway and into a nearby storm drain, according to Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services spokesperson Capt. Tommy Rutledge.
Paramedics evaluated the tanker’s driver at the scene for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

A QuikTrip gas station, a BP gas station and Discovery Point Daycare near the intersection were evacuated as a precaution, according to social-media posts from Gwinnett County.
UPDATE: Overturned tanker is still ongoing. Firefighters and hazmat are working to contain the runoff. The intersection remains closed. The Discovery Point Daycare, B/P Station, and QT are evacuated. A truck to offload the remaining fuel is on its way. pic.twitter.com/iS6BDdQTA5
