Run To Support Jail Dogs: Save Dogs And Inmates

Jail Dogs has saved hundreds of dogs from euthanasia while providing inmates with some companionship and a new skill.

DACULA, GA β€” Locals can help save pups and rehabilitate inmates by signing up for the Jail Dogs 5K and Fun Run, a September event meant raise money for the Gwinnett Jail Dogs Program.

The program places dogs at the Gwinnett Detention Center where they're trained and cared for by inmates. Professional trainers come regularly to train the inmates how to train dogs.

To support the cause, you can run in their 5K or Fun Run for a price. The runs will be on Sept. 14 at Dacula's Little Mullberry Park at 3800 Hog Mountain Rd.

Bag pick up is the night before at Fleet Feet Atlanta on the Square in Lawrenceville.

The Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K kicks off at 9:15 a.m. Canine runners are encouraged too.

The 5K Run or Walk costs $25 and the Fun Run is $15. Prices increase at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 30.
