Dacula Shooting Was Self-Defense, Police Say
Gwinnett Police said he was followed home after a roadway dispute before he shot and killed Richard Fawbush, who came at him with a weapon.

Gwinnett Police said the fatal shooting Wednesday night near Dacula may have been an act of self-defense.
Police identified the people involved in the shooting at 1625 Windsong Park Drive in unincorporated Dacula, where a man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Richard Fawbush, 24, of Dacula, died as a result of the shooting, which apparently began as a roadway incident, police said. The shooter, Jesse Campbell, 34, also of Dacula, has not been charged.
Police believe Fawbush and Jack Vawter, 24, of Buford, were riding in a red truck and began a roadway disagreement with Campbell, who was driving a silver truck. Fawbush and Vawter allegedly followed Campbell home and tried to assault him in his driveway.

βCampbell told the lead detective that the reason he shot Fawbush was because Fawbush was attempting to assault him with a homemade weapon,β Gwinnett Police Public Information Officer Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a Thursday morning news release. βAt this time, the homicide appears to be self-defense. Campbell has not been charged with any criminal act.β
Vawter was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
