Here are the top three stories today in Dacula:
- The Gwinnett County Police Department has arrested a man for street racing that resulted in the death of another man. According to the department, Hoschton's Javier Ramirez, 27, was racing his illegally modified truck along Braselton Highway on Jul. 31 around 10:30 p.m. Ramirez struck Jeffrey Smith's vehicle at more than 80 miles per hour. Ramirez currently faces several charges, including first-degree vehicular homicide and racing. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- An investigation has revealed the Gwinnett County Police Department officer that struck a moped with his department cruiser was distracted while looking at his in-cruiser computer. Michael James Brady, 49, has been charged placed on administrative leave and charged with second-degree homicide by vehicle. He has posted bond. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
