Thief Interested in Item Under the Hood, Not What Was in Vehicle
Man heard noises during the evening, but didn't realize what had happened.

A Dacula man called police on June 19 after discovering a thief or thieves had broken into his 1996 Chevrolet S-10 pickup. Nothing was missing from the interior of the vehicle, but the man found something had been stolen out of the engine compartment when he popped the hood.
According to the Tanner Road resident, the vehicle was parked on the side of his home next to the carport. At approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 18, he heard noises outside but did not investigate. He told police he believes this is when the theft occurred. It wasn’t until the next day, however, that he discovered what had been stolen.
Upon checking under the hood, the man realized the truck battery had been removed. The thief or thieves had to enter the truck and release the hood latch in order to gain access, the man explained.
