PAULDING COUNTY, GA — The man found guilty of two 2002 murders has been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in prison, according to a Facebook post by the Paulding County District Attorney's Office.

Andrew Shadrix, 44, pleaded guilty in May 2019 to the murders of Shad English and Jeffrey Jackson. He was sentenced on Sept. 27.

The badly burned bodies of English, 21, and Jackson, 19, both of Paulding County, were located in the trunk of a vehicle on I-20 in the early morning hours of Sept. 15, 2002. The Atlanta Fire and Police Departments responded to the vehicle fire, which was just within the western city limits of Atlanta. Atlanta authorities discovered that there was more to the vehicle fire than they expected.

Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge said, "This is a case where perseverance paid off and a guilty conscience got the best of the suspect. We are glad the Jackson and English families will now have closure knowing that their sons' murderer is in custody."

"While we can never bring back the victims of this senseless act of violence, we hope that this brings some level of closure to the victim’s families," the District Attorney's office posted.
