- On Sunday, Sept. 11, the 21st annual 9/11 ceremony was held at Mt. Tabor Park. The ceremony was hosted by the Paulding County Sheriffβs Office and Paulding County Fire/Rescue, along with the Retired New York Shields of Georgia. The Paulding County Sheriff's Office has sent their appreciation to the citizens who were able to attend. (Paulding County Sheriffβs Office via Facebook)
- After years of delays due to budget and logistical issues, Chattahoochee Technical College held a ceremonial groundbreaking on Friday morning for its new aviation maintenance academy in Dallas, which officials hope will fill the talent gap for skilled mechanics in Georgia's aerospace industry. The new Aviation Training Academy is located at 570 Airport Parkway, adjacent to the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport. According to officials, the plan is to complete the structure and hangar by the Fall of 2023 and will seek FAA approval so students can begin classes in 2024. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- Both Paulding County High School and Hiram High School had big wins to celebrate at their respective homecoming games on Friday evening. The Paulding County High School JROTC celebrated the Homecoming game with 60 push-ups for six touchdowns, jumping jacks for multiple kick-offs, and a firemanβs carry to celebrate the win. Hiram High School brought in the end of 2022 Homecoming Week with a Tailgate Party, Homecoming Court, and they also won their Homecoming Game. - Hiram Mayor Frank Moran and City Council have called a special meeting to be held on Wednesday, Sep. 14 at 6:00 p.m. The topic of discussion will be the approval of a real property sale in town, but the address and purchase price will not be disclosed to the public until the session. - What better way to celebrate the arrival of autumn than an exciting full-weekend Fall Festival? The Festival will be held from Friday, Sep. 16 through Sunday, Sep. 18 at Magnolia Market Home Decor and More, located at 45 Darbys Crossing Drive in Hiram.
