  1. Hailing from Dallas, senior Nick Colina is among the top performers for the Kennesaw State baseball team this season. Colina has been leading the ASUN in triples and ranks third in walks and fourth in OBP, making him a key player to watch during the upcoming midweek contest against Clemson at Stillwell Stadium. The game will mark the third meeting in the series history and the second time within the stadium. Kennesaw State's team has also featured a strong presence of freshmen players, with 14 underclassmen taking the field during the opening weekend. (Kennesaw State Athletics)
  2. A lieutenant from the Atlanta Police Department, Renato Anaya, was arrested over the weekend in Paulding County for driving under the influence. According to a press release, Anaya was involved in a single-vehicle crash near Macland Road and Mount Tabor Church Road. A Georgia State Patrol trooper who spoke to Anaya after the crash detected the smell of alcohol on his breath and observed his bloodshot and watery eyes and slurred speech. Anaya was taken to Paulding WellStar Hospital for a medical evaluation but ran away into nearby woods when the trooper went to retrieve a blood draw kit. (Fox5 Atlanta)
  3. A bill that would define antisemitism in Georgia law has stalled after an unfriendly amendment in a Senate committee. The bill, HB 30, would provide legal guidelines for identifying hate crimes and discrimination against Jewish people. Republican Rep. John Carson of Marietta, the bill's sponsor, said Tuesday he did not know if the bill is dead for the year. The legislation follows concerns raised by the American Jewish Committee that antisemitism in the US has grown over the past five years. (GPB)
  4. Georgia lawmakers have approved a bill that would restrict vaping in public spaces in the same way that smoking is already regulated, meaning e-cigarette use would be banned in most indoor public areas. The state House passed Senate Bill 47, which will now be sent to Gov. Brian Kemp for signing into law. A person violating the law would be committing a misdemeanor and could be fined $100 to $500.
